Boiler Bank Tubes
The Boiler Bank Tube is one of the critical components in a boiler system, typically located in the convective heat transfer section. It connects the steam drum with the water walls or economizer and primarily functions to transfer water or steam while utilizing the waste heat from flue gases to improve heat exchange efficiency.

Structure and Materials of Boiler Bank Tubes

Boiler Bank Tubes are usually made of high-temperature and high-pressure-resistant alloy steel or carbon steel, such as SA-210 and SA-213, ensuring stability and durability in extreme operating conditions. The main structural components include:

Tube Bundle:

Comprising multiple neatly arranged tubes to enhance heat transfer efficiency.

Headers:

Collect and distribute fluid to ensure uniform flow.

Support Structure:

Prevents tube bundles from deforming due to thermal expansion or vibration.

Working Principle

During boiler operation, water or steam flows inside the Boiler Bank Tubes while flue gas passes over the exterior, enabling heat exchange. Water absorbs heat, gradually converting into saturated steam, which then moves to the steam drum and further into the superheater or other heating surfaces.

Common Issues and Optimization Measures

Scaling and Corrosion:

Solution: Use high-quality feedwater treatment to reduce impurity deposition; select corrosion-resistant materials like low-alloy steel.

Tube Blockage:

Solution: Regularly clean soot deposits and increase flue gas velocity to prevent buildup.

Tube Wall Wear:

Solution: Add wear-resistant shields, optimize flue gas flow direction, and minimize localized high-temperature areas.

Thermal Expansion Imbalance:

Solution: Properly design expansion joints to allow adequate movement of tube bundles.
